On today's blog, I travel to the Pouakai Rages to see the best view of Mt. Taranaki ever! To get here you start the hike at Mangorei track to Pouakai Hut. DOC says it takes 2hrs 30min, but I did it in 1hr 45min, and that is also stopping here and there to shoot footage for the vlog. I'm sure it can be done faster if you like climbing lots of stairs. ;) The trip can be done in a day easily but if you want to hike around the area, I would stay at the Pouakai Hut for the night. It's worth going up for sunset, then waking up for sunrise. This is what I did and both views of the mountain were different and amazing! Remember to check the weather forecast and come prepared, as the weather can change fast up there.
